It has been a year

Today was just another day. Daisy and I got to spend it together.

We still miss you, sweet boy.  Daisy sleeps more and walks slower, but that doesn’t stop her from going for walks with Dad.  I picked up some medicine for her today and your picture is still there on the wall.  Your girl is getting married and your boy is far away in Buenos Aires.  The black grass I planted is starting to fill in the bare spots around your rock.

The dogs (and cats) and their people here have helped me alot.  I am very grateful to them.

I love you,

Mom

  1. I’ve read your previous posts. I’m so sorry that you go so little time with Shadow but I’m glad that he got to move on while surrounded by the ones he loved.

We are 1 month away from 12 months and while it gets easier I don’t think the missing them or the ache in your heart ever goes away completely.

    Many hugs

  2. Oh, I’m so sad to read what happened to Shadow and so comforted to know he was at home surrounded by everyone and everything he loves. Sometimes the tragedies of this disease are compounded by the utter lack of mercy some endure.

You have endured this loss with incredible grace and a true compassion for others. Sometimes it’s in our darkest hour that our greatest strengths shine the brightest. Shadow’s light beams eternally through y our and he is still touching lives with his courage and love of life. He was frightened–exited with the comfort and serenity of being where he wanted to be.

Thank you Shadow and Heather AND Daisy for allowing us to be part of your journey. May you always be surrounded by the peace and love you give so willingly to others.

  3. Oh this one year mark is so hard, I’m so sorry.

Shadow, you will always be loved by your people, true love never fades, even after many years. I know you’re never far from their hearts.

Thanks for watching over our Tripawd heroes.
